in memory of Raymond J. Provencher
March 21, 1925 - July 30, 2008
Our trip to Normandy to spread Dad's ashes in the Bay of the Mont-Saint-Michel and spend some time remembering him in the land where he first met Maman so many years ago.
Now they are reunited. Bon Voyage!
Our plane -- first time we've flown in a 747.
Airline Food - not your typical fare -- in fact it was quite good -- Mes compliments, Air France!
La Maraîcherie, our Chambres-d'Hôtes - Golden Chain Tree - I had a hard time trying to convey photographically the radiant gold of this tree. This picture only hints at it.
Avranches - Rue Saint Nicholas - in places, barely 4 feet wide, with stairs
Avranches - Le Jardin-des-Plantes - Judy by the arch. The Jardin received a major overhaul in 2007. I don't find it quite as charming as I did, but this spot is still beautiful.
Avranches - Panorama from Le-Jardin-des-Plantes
Saint-Benoit - little town near Saint-James. We went to Saint-James to remember my father and mother at the place where they met when my father was serving as Honor Guard at
Brittany American Cemetery nearby. This year, the cemetery was undergoing repairs and maintenance, so there were not too many photo-ops.
Avranches - Tomates au Marché - Judy ponders some mighty luscious looking tomatoes (Yes, they did smell and taste as good as they looked!)
Our friend, Gilles Normand, walking toward us on
Les Mares, as we were re-exploring this place of my birth.
Panorama - Route des Falaises near Saint-Jean-le-Thomas. You can see Tomblaine and the Mont-Saint-Michel on the horizon.
